Time spent away from the computer
As a graphic designer, I spend countless hours in front of a computer screen. I truly love the ability to create something with the touch of a button (or quite a few). Yet, I want to experiment with something different. Last summer, I took a screen printing class at a local art center in Portland and fell completely in love with the process of handmade art. The time and energy needed to produce a beautiful two-color print with your own hands, rather than your keyboard is unbelievably satisfying. For this reason I want to challenge myself: reconnect with the illustrator within me and put that on paper, or any surface I choose.
I want to doodle, draw, paint, scribble and produce one "doodle a day" for the rest of my stay here in Cape Town. No matter how small or simple, five minutes of creative expression a day may just keep me sane (hopefully). So here goes! I'll be posting these along with the endless amounts of photos I take of course. Hope you all enjoy!
