Fresh Basil

My first trip to the Greenpop nursery was a great experience, I got to see first hand what they really do (outside of the office). It is amazing to see all the hardwork and success they have done. I helped revive some of the trees that needed new soil, and harvesting chilis, tomatoes and other fresh vegetables. As a treat, I was able to take some fresh basil home, free of charge! Calvin, one of the guys who works at the nursery, has a great work ethic, has helped revive the land to help plant and keep all of these trees, and get the community interested and excited. It's amazing (and much more rewarding) when one is able to see firsthand the vegetables, the herbs, etc. that come from their OWN garden, as opposed to running to the grocery store whenever you may need them. Obviously it takes time to plant and harvest, but in the end it seems much more rewarding! It helps you learn the seasonality of fruits and vegetables, which is a much better way for us to plant and grow sustainably and locally.​
